Ruffina is an elegant, feminine Leonberger with superb type, a beautiful lush coat, and a sweet expression. She is a loyal companion in the same way as the lion was in the story of Yvain /ē-vaughn/ in The Knight with the Lion. Her graceful, confident, and effervescent nature transfers well into a myriad of working dog disciplines, including the show ring. 

At the very early age of 14 months, Ruffina finished her AKC Championship, and three months later, she finished her Grand Championship.  She has had many successes in the show ring —multiple triumphs in Best of Breed, Best Opposite Sex, and a qualifier for the 2019 LCA Top 20 Invitational Gala.  

Ruffina will begin a new quest of obtaining working dog titles to add to her existing Therapy Dog and Versatile Leonberger titles. A stalwart Leonberger, Ruffina continues to win the hearts of those who meet her.

Naming Ceremony 

Our family was having pasta with Bolognese sauce with our favorite bottle of Chianti Classico, Ruffino. To keep with the theme of the litter, we decided to name Miss Pink “Ruffina,” which is derived from the Germanic name Hrodwulf, meaning victorious wolf, and the Latin word rufus, meaning red. Bluebonnet’s On The Rocks Ruffina is our victorious red-she wolf.
